Brightspace Frequently Asked Questions

Check out our newly updated Brightspace FAQs! This list runs through the most common questions the Brightspace Support Team gets throughout the year. If you have any questions not listed here, be sure to contact our Support team for assistance.

Support Schedule

The Vanderbilt University Brightspace Instructional Technologists are available for support between 8 AM and 4 PM Monday through Friday. Any emails received after 4 PM will be addressed when our team returns to normal support at 8 AM the following business day. While we’re out, we encourage you to utilize our On-Demand Resources to answer any questions that arise.

The Zoom Host’s Interface

  1. Mute/Unmute Microphone. Select the ^ to the right of the microphone to choose which microphone you’d like to use
  2. Enable/Disable Webcam. Select the ^ to the right of the webcam to choose which camera you’d like to use
  3. Invite people to meeting
  4. View and manage participants. Displays a list of participants where you can mute/unmute all or grant host privileges
  5. Share screen. Can display entire computer screen, one specific program, or a plain whiteboard for annotation
  6. View chat
  7. Record meeting
  8. End Meeting
  9. Enter full screen
  10. View meeting ID
  11. Host’s webcam video. Additional participants’ webcam video will be displayed in smaller boxes along the top of the meeting screen
