We foster welcoming and compassionate spaces where all Vanderbilt students can explore who they are holistically, connect with others, learn from differences, and grow. Through intentional programs and collaborative partnerships, our community centers help co-create a campus where every experience is honored and each student is empowered to thrive.听

The community centers within the communities scope make up the Belonging & Communities cluster within Student Affairs.听

Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center

The mission of the Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center (BCC) is to enhance the student experience at Vanderbilt by providing programming and resources that educate about Black history, highlight Black accomplishments, and showcase Black culture, while promoting belonging and creating community for all.

Center for Spiritual and Religious Life

The Center for Spiritual and Religious Life (CSRL) nurtures a community of communities where students, faculty, and staff are invited to experience hospitality, engage in discovery, and practice generosity. In collaboration with CSRL, affiliate chaplains provide support to a number of faith communities at Vanderbilt.

The K.C. Potter Center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Life at Vanderbilt University (LGBTQI+ Life) is a student-first space that focuses on building a community culture of personal growth, authenticity, radical joy, and change. The center supports and advises LGBTQIA+-related student organizations.

The Student Center for Belonging and Communities (SCBC) serves students by fostering meaningful connections through intentional reflection, critical dialogue, and engaged participation within our Vanderbilt community and beyond. By utilizing globally recognized curriculums, art-based pedagogies, and critical thinking to facilitate transformative educational experiences, SCBC aims to develop the next generation of transnational leaders one student at a time.
